Kotare Designs Director James Markham has 14 years’ experience in structural, civil and water engineering, construction and project management.

Having worked in the UK, Australia and New Zealand, James has a widespread knowledge of different building practices and the use of different materials in structural design dependant on the project and environmental factors. He is particularly inspired by the frequent use of locally sourced, sustainable materials such as wood in Kiwi building designs.

James is passionate about residential design and enjoys working alongside home owners and architects to build or modify their home and bring their dreams to life. 

Outside of work, James loves to travel to far-flung places, where he enjoys scuba diving and immersing himself in the local culture. In winter he likes to hit the slopes on his snowboard.
